Project Management — Identification Phase: (1 of 4) – Project Proposal

Learn how to develop a Project Proposal. Describe what needs to be done, why is the project worth doing and the overall strategies that enable the project to be accomplished.

What is a Project Proposal?

A Project Proposal is used early in the Project Life Cycle to describe the project vision, time frames and deliverables so that everyone is on the same page, knowing what has to be done and by when. It helps us identify all of the things that need to be done, to kick-off your project and deliver it successfully.

Possible Contents to be Covered in a Project Proposal:

  • Define the problem.
  • Maintain vision – align with strategic objectives.
  • Describe benefits – explain how you’re going to deliver and what the users can expect
  • Define success criteria – Be specific, measurable, achievable and realistic.
  • List deadlines — the approach for meeting them.
  • Cost & budget plan – including how you’ll meet it against deliverables.
